Three managers from Brown Cheese Company Limited have been apprehended following allegations of coercing female employees to remove their clothing after a used sanitary pad was discovered in a trash bin.
In an unsettling incident that occurred on Tuesday, multiple female workers were compelled to disrobe by one of the managers, who sought to identify the employee responsible for incorrectly disposing of the sanitary pad.
The quality assurance manager purportedly assembled all the women from the team and instructed them to undress, with the intention of determining who was menstruating and subsequently punishing them for placing the pad in that particular bin.
The Gender Office at the Tigoni police station conducted investigations and revealed that this was not the first instance of a senior manager forcing female employees to strip naked.
Senator Gloria Orwoba reported the incident and emphasized the importance of implementing the Menstrual Hygiene Management Policy across all institutions.
The objective of this policy is to ensure that all women and girls in Kenya can hygienically and dignifiedly manage menstruation, free from stigma or taboos. It also aims to provide access to menstrual products and facilitate the safe disposal of menstrual waste.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case include the Quality Assurance Manager, the Human Resource Manager, and an HR assistant employed at the plant.
