The body of a 24-year-old woman who had been missing since June 28, 2023, has been discovered by the police.
Josephine Karimi Simon, employed as a secretary at the St. Mary's Catholic Women Association Centre in Kiaragana, Embu County, disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Yesterday, her lifeless body was found in a pit latrine at the center.
Following her disappearance on Wednesday, her family made unsuccessful attempts to locate her, as her phone had been switched off.
The Catholic priest at the center informed the family that Josephine had not shown up for work on Thursday. Consequently, the family spread the news of her disappearance through various churches and social media platforms.
On Saturday, Karimi's father reported the matter to the Runyenjes police station and provided a statement.
Mr. Gatumo, the father, expressed concern about his daughter's safety and highlighted that she worked alone in a remote location without adequate security measures.
Yesterday, on July 3rd, he returned to the police station and accompanied the officers to the center, where a thorough investigation was conducted.
A casual worker at the center claimed to know Josephine's whereabouts and assured the detectives that she was safe. Subsequently, he led them to a pit latrine, where they discovered the lifeless body of the young woman.
The casual laborer, identified as the main suspect in the murder, was taken to the police station for further questioning.
Josephine Karimi's body was transported to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The grieving family is seeking justice and demanding answers regarding the identity of the person who took their beloved daughter's life and the motive behind the heinous act.
