Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has received a significant boost after being appointed as an ambassador by Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the head of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).
Yesterday, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua met with Stevo Simple Boy after learning about the musician's financial struggles. The MCSK boss expressed his longstanding admiration for the talented artist.
"I've been a fan of Stevo for a while now. I first heard about him when I was still with the Kenya Film Classification Board, and I immediately took a liking to him. In fact, I even sent my personal assistant to meet him at one point. He's a great guy. So when I found out that he was facing challenges, which is common, especially during the Covid pandemic when many musicians are struggling, we met, and I have officially registered him as a member of MCSK."
Dr. Ezekiel Mutua also revealed that he is working towards securing an ambassadorial position for the rapper, with the aim of raising awareness among the youth about substance abuse.
"We have agreed to explore the possibility of Stevo becoming an ambassador for the youth at MCSK, promoting music-related issues and representing us in the music industry. I have reached out to the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA), and we have already begun making arrangements to meet with them. Stevo expressed his desire to launch a campaign against substance abuse, which is a significant problem and a national disaster."
Mutua hopes that Stevo Simple Boy's success will inspire other young Kenyans to pursue their dreams.
